  5. Hello,  it's  the wooden headed one here.  How many spotted my  deliberate 
  6. mistakes  in the last issue?  Yes,  I forget to include the addresses  for 
  7. both BATH BBS and STUNN. Without further ado here they are:

  16. And  for  the  record,  Graham Sivill drew the screen for  issue  two  and 
  17. Michael  McLaughlin did the one for issue three with the help  of  Raymond 
  18. Mortimers digitised pics and a lot of hinderence from me.

  20. How  many  people noticed that I had forgotten to put  the  German-English 
  21. translator on the disc last time? How many of you cared enough to tell me? 
  22. OK  Tom,  put your hand down and thanks!  It's on side two,  only  it's  a 
  23. different one with an upgradable dictionary this time. Also icluded is the 
  24. lastest  (bug  free?)  version of NEOCHROME,  v 2.07 and  a  SPECTRUM  512 
  25. picture viewer and a couple of digitised screens from Raymond Mortimer.

  27. As  for the other programs. Well, I've held STEN back a little to  include 
  28. Dave  Cowlings  report  on  the  Computer  Shopper  Show.   I'm  preparing 
  29. everything else beforehand to let me finish and distribute STEN as soon as 
  30. possible after it arrives.  I'll include some goodies to allow you to play 
  31. with a new feature included in the shell.

  33. OK,  one  of  the  first things that you should  have  noticed  about  the 
  34. newsletter  shell  are the new text-scroll boxes and the  slightly  faster 
  35. scrolling,  the  scrolling can also be controlled by the arrow  keys,  and 
  36. some of the functions can be selected via the keyboard. At the last minute 
  37. I have included a facility to run external programs from the shell and  to 
  38. return  to  the  shell when finished.  It is not  yet  foolproof  as  some 
  39. programs  in  folders cannot find their resource files,  screens  etc  and 
  40. programs  which  use drop down menus themselves corrupt the  STEN  one  on 
  41. return.  The  shell  is now almost bug-free and as long as  you  don't  do 
  42. anything daft,  like trying to scroll when there is no text loaded, things 
  43. should go OK.  I'll get as many bugs ironed out and new features added  as 
  44. possible for next time.  I've included a very preliminary manual which may 
  45. be of some use.

  47. I'd like to welcome another new guy to the STEN team.  He is Steve Murgan, 
  48. Setve  is a very keen flight sim enthusiast and has submitted quite a  few 
  49. articles  on the subject.  You can find out a bit more about him  in  this 
  50. issues, WHO THE HELL...... If Steve can help you in any way don't hesitate 
  51. to drop him a line,  and remember to include a SAE.  The same goes for any 
  52. of the other team members.

  54. Right,  it's soap-box time.  By now you will know that June sees the  last 
  55. edition of the Floppyshop Newsletter,  but how many of you also know  that 
  56. STUFFED is going to fold after issue 10? It would seem that Marc Young has 
  57. gotten himself a job with ST User as technical editor. We at STEN wish him 
  58. all the best and are sure that he will do well.

  60. Being  absolutely  serious for a minute.  I really do hope that  Marc  can 
  61. (will  be  allowed to) raise the standards of User as it would  seem  that 
  62. there  is very little left now for the ST owner who wants to do more  that 
  63. play games.  Forget about ST WORLD, it's gone now. What we should be doing 
  64. is  supporting  whats  left that's worth  supporting.  For  me,  thats  ST 
  65. Applications, the GFA Users magazine and yes, even STEN.

  67. It's  getting  late  now and I want STEN ready  for  copying  and  posting 
  68. tommorrow (15/5/91) so I'll wind this,  final,  article up. Hope you enjoy
